The Countdown to the NFL Football Season has begun!  It seems like with every year that passes our professional sports seasons will overlap even more. What better place to catch "The Game" than at Daddy-O's Pub! Getting back to Football talk. A lot of wild and just crazy things have happened during this off season in the NFL.  As a football fan, some of it is good and some of it is not so good.

Peyton Manning gets dropped like a lead weight from the Colts. Then, he gets signed by John Elway to play for the Broncos. But, where does this leave Tim Tebow, who became a real leader on the field and off the field in Denver.  Remember last year, Tebow was promised to be the starting quarterback for the Broncos.  And all he got was... "Sorry Timmy, we're looking to Trade ya!" So, it looks like Tebowmania will be heading to New York to play with the Jets. Which leads you to wonder what will happen to Mark Sanchez.  Will he be willing to share the spotlight and position with Tebow?  We don't know about that. Just look what a visit from Payton Manning to the 49ers caused Alex Smith to do. Has Roger Goodell lost his mind?  We know that the rules are the rules and if you break them there are consequences. Just because New Orleans used Bounties during last season, they were handed what could be construed as The Death Penalty. We don't think they are the only team using bounties though. The NFL has indefinitely suspended Gregg Williams, their Defensive Coordinator and suspended Sean Peyton for the whole season this year. So, where will this lead the Saints this year going into the Draft and Season without a Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator?  We will have to wonder till the season starts. They may not be a playoff contender this year. In any case, this penalty will have long lasting effects on the Saints.

And last, there are two NFL retirements that are noteworthy:

- Marion Barber, former RB for the Cowboys has hung up his cleats after 7 years.
- Hines Ward, WR for the Steelers has called it quits and will eventually join others in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Oh and before we forget, Randy Moss is... Back...  He has come out of retirement to play for the 49ers.

As you can see, the NFL season is already starting to pan out as an exciting one. Players moving from one team to the next. A team that has been severely punished for placing bounties. And, players going into and out of retirement.
